EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING FOR
CHILDREN AGES 3-4
Under Special Education State Regulations (603
CMR 28.00) each town is required to evaluate children
ages 3-4 that may be in need of special education
services.
Developmental evaluation is a brief check of a
child's eye hand coordination, language abilities,
and large motor control. Most children develop
in these areas at a rate which is within the usual
rate for their age. For some children, the developmental
evaluation may indicate that the child requires
special education services. Any parent who feels
that his/her child needs a developmental evaluation
should contact the Special Education Office of
the Saugus Public Schools during the week of November
9, 2009, by calling 781-231-5000 ext. 105, 106
or 108. At that time, an appointment will be made
for the developmental evaluation to take place.
Early childhood Screening is NOT TO BE CONFUSED
with Kindergarten screening or the screening of
model students for the Integrated Preschool Program.
