Dear Families:
Two weeks ago you received a letter
from your principal outlining your school's accountability
status under the No Child Left Behind Law.
Since your child's school receives
Title I funds from the federal government, we
are required to use 5% of our Title I funds to
provide free outside tutoring (Supplemental Education
Services) to eligible students who receive free
and reduced lunch. If there is not enough funding
for every child requesting services, eligible
students with the greatest academic need in math
as determined by 2008 MCAS testing will receive
first priority.
If you would like to apply for your
child to receive these free tutoring services,
please complete the "Student Enrollment Form"
(see above for link) and return to your school's
main office by November 15, 2009. You will then
receive a letter from me letting you know if your
child is eligible based on their performance on
the 2008 MCAS test. If he/she is eligible, I will
give you information on tutoring providers in
the area and help you enter an agreement with
that provider. You would then be responsible for
providing transportation for your child to each
of these tutoring sessions.
If you have any questions about
Supplemental Education Services, please contact
me at 781-231-8166. In addition, more information
about this can be found on the Web at www.doe.mass.edu.
We are looking forwarding to a year
of educational success and continuous improvement
for all of our students.
Sincerely,
Uri Harel
