English 41: Students are required to read a minimum of one book from the list above. Although students are not required to take notes while reading, they should be familiar with the title, author, characters, setting, and plot of the book(s) they have chose.
English 42: Students are required to read a minimum of two books from the list above. Students should keep a handwritten journal by chapter or scene for each book. Notes should include information about setting, characters, events,and themes. In addition, students should record at least one quote from each chapter or scene for reflection. Quotes may include vivid description, situations that are especially meaningful to the reader, or anyhting else worthy of reflection. Each quote should be accompanied by a personal response or reflection. All journal work will be submitted on the first day of school.
