Parental input would be greatly appreciated in selecting a total of two books from the list below for entering sixth grade students. Each of the books was a recipient of a Newbery award or has been cited as one of the best new books for young adults. None of these books are currently a part of the English curriculum at the middle school and parents and students are asked to confine their required reading to the selections on this page. Students should complete the attached literary terms for each novel. Copies of the lists have been sent to the Saugus Public Library and Barnes and Noble Bookstore. The lists will also be available in the guidance office of the middle school over the summer and on the school's web site.
