All students entering eight grade should read three books from the above list. Students must take handwritten notes on all three book. These notes should include the title and author as well as information about the settings, plots, conflicts, and themes in the books.

Eight Grade teachers will collect and evaluate these notes during the first week of school. Students will also be asked to complete in class a written assessment of the three books.

Copies of the list have been sent to the Saugus Public Library and Barnes and Noble Bookstore. The list will also be available in the guidance office of the middle school over the summer and on the school's website.
