Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, allegedly on April 23,1564. No one really knows if this is his true date of birth, but the Holy Trinity Church indicates that he was baptised there on April 26, 1564. He was born to his mother Mary Arden, a landed heiress. His father, John Shakespeare, was a glover and a leather salesman. He is the third of eight children, three of whom died in early childhood.
