The American version of this legend, received its insight from the Dutch legend of Sinter klass. This legend was brought by settlers to New York in the 17th century.y different cultures, customs, legends, and myths. Its mostly based on St. Nicholas, Kriss Kringle, and Belznickel figures.
Santa Clause's real name is Saint Nicholas. Clause is a short version of Nicholas. Saint Nicholas is an important person during the Christmas season. He gives gifts to everyone even poor people. He's very generous and hard working.
Santa travels on a sleigh with nine reindeer to help him get onto the roofs of houses. The reindeers are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolf. Santa Clause hands out good gifts to good children. He switches the gifts of bad children with coal.

To make all this possible, Santa has his own workshop in the North Pole. He has elves that make the toys on the Christmas list for all the children. Then they pack them into big bags and load them onto Santa's sleigh, to then be delivered to their houses.
